E-FARMS, 2017/2018 WINNER OF THE EARLY STAGE CATEGORY

At the 2017 West Africa Pitch Agrihack competition held on the 4th-8th of September at Abidjan and organized by the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA), E-farms emerged as the Winner of the Early Stage Category.

CTA established in 1983, is focused with the mission to advance food security, resilence and inclusive economic growth through innovation in sustainable agriculture, helps modern and sustainable businesses that creates value for farmers, entrepreneurs, youths and women achieve common objectives.

The Competition which was divided into the Early Stage Category and the Advanced Stage Category, had 25 finalists from West Africa comprising of Nigeria, Ghana, Burkina Faso and Togo; with 14 from Nigeria. E-farms led the trail as the winner of the Early Stage Category from Nigeria.

Emerging as the Winner, E-farms, an agri-financing and agri-learning online platform, is committed to digitalizing agriculture, ensuring food security and transforming Africa into the hub that feeds the world.

Speaking in a short interview immediately after the award, Miss Divine-Love Akam in her statement, said ‘’it is really a great feat to win the prize and all thanks goes to God who made it a reality. Having made it through, it calls for more work to ensure dogged commitment to our vision of transforming Africa into the hub that feeds the world; and there’s a need for females and youths to understand that agriculture/farming is not for only the male folks and the aged ones respectively’’.
